urgency

I was talking with eric davis.

this is one of the things I came away with.

The Church has withstood every major and minor economic, cultural, civil, and social shift or change or persecution the world has faced since it was established by the power of the ressurection of the Lord and the coming of the Spirit, by the will and good pleasure of the Father.

If we think the Lord is worried about our economy, then we're way off the marker. the Lord's more concerned about proclaiming His excellencies through the Church amidst an economy that's falling apart.

the Church is the need of the hour

"The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
He utters His voice, the earth melts.
The LORD of hosts is with us;the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how He has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
He burns the chariots with fire.

"Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth
!"

The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress
."
(psalm 46)

"but you [the church] are a chosen race, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession,
that you [the church] may proclaim the excellencies of Him
who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light
.
once you were not a people, but now you are God's people;
once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
"
